Stress is one of the biggest problems a college student can face. There are so many things to do and so little time that you can’t help but feel overwhelmed.

Here are a few things I used during my college years that truly helped me reduce stress and see my college experience from a completely different perspective.

  • Exercise

Exercising is very important when it comes to reducing stress. It is the best way for your body to produce endorphins, which are known as the “feel good” hormones and they help you feel happier and less stressed. Even half an hour of exercise a few times a week can help you see a large improvement and it will truly make a difference.

  • A healthy diet

A healthy diet is one of the most important things to look after if you wish to reduce your stress levels. You must consume a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables which will not only strengthen you immune system with the vitamin C they contain, but they will also help a lot with your stress levels. On top of that, cooking your own meals might become sort of therapeutic for you and take your mind off of your responsibilities for a short while.

  • Taking breaks

Taking breaks is very important if you wish to feel less stressed. You should not overwork yourself. This will only result in you making silly mistakes and you won’t be able to truly give your studying your all. Take regular breaks and do things that will make you happy and help you relax. You can paint your nails, listen to some music on go on a walk; the choice is up to you!

  • Hanging out with friends

Friends are always there to help you laugh and forget about your problems. When you feel stressed, find some time to spend with your best friends and talk to them about what’s on your mind. Go and do something that you enjoy together and let yourself relax. This will be the best cure for your nerves.

  • Getting enough sleep

Lack of sleep is a common problem with most college students. Most of the time, students tend to leave everything for the last minute and therefore lose precious time from their sleeping hours. Make sure that you have a schedule that will allow you to finish everything on time and get to bed at a normal hour. Too much partying can truly exhaust you as well and completely ruin your sleeping cycle. Make sure that you get enough rest so you can feel better and work better under pressure without stressing out too much.

Stress and college come hand in hand

There is no college student that can confidently say they never got stressed during college. These are our most productive years and we simply want to do as much as possible.

Even though it feels like we don’t have enough time to do everything, it is important to remember that stress can only worsen our experience and not allows us to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience to the fullest.
